REMEMBERING THE LIFE OF...



Dorothy B. Arneson, 87, of the Broen Memorial Home,

who died Monday, March 27, 1995, at the Lake Region

Skilled Nursing Facility in Fergus Falls.

She was born on October 3, 1907, the daughter of Ed-

ward and Inga (Hauge) Johnson in Pelican Rapids, Min-

nesota. She grew up and attended school in Norwegian

Grove Township, Otter Tail County, Minnesota. She was

baptized in 1907 at the Ringsaker Church in Pelican

Rapids and confirmed at the Hamar Church in Rothsay,

Minnesota.

Dorothy married Bennie Arneson on December 7, 1932,

at Ringsaker Lutheran Church. They farmed east of Peli-

can Rapids for several years. In the 1950’s they moved to

Pelican Rapids, where they purchased the Phillips Oil Sta-

tion which they operated until the 1970’s when they retired.

Bennie died on September 7, 1980. She resided at the Mill

Pond Apartments for seven years before moving to the

Broen Memorial Home of Fergus Falls in 1993.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in

Pelican Rapids and its circles and aid. She enjoyed baking,

crocheting and especially spending time with her family

and friends.

In addition Dorothy was preceded in death by a son in

infancy, three brothers and one sister.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty (Robert) Magee

of Bothell, Washington and lone (Art) Nelson of Fergus

Falls; three sons, DuWayne (Billie) of Redmond, Washing-

ton, Juel (Joyce) of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Ev-

erett (Geri) of Woodenville, Washington; 10 grandchildren;

6 great-grandchildren; one sister, Fern Nettestad of Peli-

can Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.
