Otto and Sigrid moved to Maplewood Township, Section 16 of Ottertail County, Minnesota in 1892.
They lived near lake Twenty-one, which was already named in the 1884 plat book that Ferdinand
Tollefson has. According to the 1900 census records Sigred had two babies that had died and by the 1910 census one more baby had died. Otto and Sigrid were both born in Norway and came to America. Sigrid is from Voss, Norway and came across in 1884, 1888 or 1889. (I have found different dates, 1889 is the date that the Voss, Norway book gives). Otto's father's name is Tollef Hovday and his mother wad Ingrborg Hovday. I have found different dates for when Otto came across (1882, 1886, or 1887) Otto and Sigrid are buried in the northwest corner of the Lake Lida Cemetery. In the book about Voss, Norway, Sigrid was spelled Sigri. |
