From the Valley City Times Record dated June 11, 1930: Bennie lived with his parents until he was 13. When he went to make his own way. He had lived in Valley City for seven years prior to his death/ He had held several jobs, but for the past four years he had been engaged in road building in Barnes County. He had become known to his mates and his employers as one of the best and most dependable on the force. On December 16, 1928 Bennie was married to Miss Betty Bjorke of Turtle Lake, ND. They were married in Valley City and lived on Normal Avenue. In December of 1929 Betty Arlain was born. On June 2, 1930 bennie sufferd an injury to his hand. He went to the doctor and was treated. He however got tetamus poisoning and was hospitalized where he died on June 8, 930. Funeral services were conducted on his 26th birthday at the Congregational Church in Valley City with the Rev Thomas E. Nugent giving the service. He is burried in the Hillsdale Cemetery, Valley City. |
