Last updated July 14, 2014| Willaim de Cheney of Shurland was a lawyer and soldier. He was a Knight of Shire and Sheriff of Kent, and a commissioner for raising a loan for King Henry V in1419-20. He was knighted in 1424 for service in the battle of Verneuil against the French and their Scottish allies. He was Recorder of London in 1428 and later Chief Justice of the King's Bench. He bore the Cheney Coat of Arms and left a son John. |
